Eddy Current Can Separators

The Magnapower Eddy Current Can Separator (ECCS) is designed to follow on from a magnetic Can Sorter, which separates steel and aluminium cans. Once ferrous cans are removed, the ECCS targets aluminium, separating it from non-metallic contaminants such as glass, plastic, and paper.

Its rotor features an optimised design that delivers the necessary forces for efficient aluminium can separation. The ECCS ensures consistent performance without deterioration. The sealed belt and frame prevent material ingress, while the motorised drive drum with internal bearings reduces wear and material trapping.

How it works

A high-frequency magnetic rotor is housed within the head drum of the conveyor. As non-ferrous metals pass over the belt, they are exposed to rapidly alternating magnetic fields. This induces eddy currents in the metals, propelling them forward and away from other materials. The result: precise separation of aluminium, copper, and other non-ferrous metals.
